Tentsmuir Point

Tentsmuir 1

Tentsmuir Point is one of the secret gems of Scotland.

Getting there isn’t easy – you have to drive away from the main roads into a little warren of single track roads that curve around for about 10 miles before you can get to it.

But when you do, you find an idyllic and peaceful spot indeed.

Coniferous woodlands line the coast here, with walks out through rolling sand dunes to the beach area itself, which stretches along the coast for miles.

One slightly annoying feature is that there are no litter bins, so while other people may be tempted to throw their rubbish by the roadside, try not to be one of them.

Also - when parking, do be aware of the rocks in the trees where part of the car park is set up. We saw one unlucky family had parked their car over exposed rocks and couldn’t drive off them.

If you’re looking for a good place to take the family out - or simply want to find a decent beach accessible from Central/Eastern Scotland, then this is one of the places to mark out.
