Achnahaird
A journey through Assynt Coigach offers a visit to a secluded beach by Achnahaird.
To get to it, follow the single-track road from the A835, and after a long journey turn right into Achnahaird. Then follow the signs to the caravan park, and shortly you’ll arrive at a small car park.
It’s a small bay with white sands and turquiose waters, looking out along the ragged desolate coast of north west Sutherland, and overlooked by impressive mountains (cloud capped in these photos, unfortunately):

Even though it was a cool October day, the kids still loved padding in the water:

I had my boots off as well.

After a brief spell of sunshine the clouds rolled in again, but that never spoils the Scottish landscape. In fact, it adds to it:

Thanks for the recommendation on Achnahaird beach - we’re up in Glen Moriston next week so we’ll give the beach a visit!
Great website by the way.

I’m delighted to find another fan of this wonderful beach. I just blogged about it (tangentially) at the URL given, in case you are interested.
(PS you have typo - peronsal - in the subhead of your web site. Feel free to edit my comment to remove this observation, of course.)

Thanks for the comment - got to admit, I still actually prefer Nairn beach or Gairloch, but Achnahaird is part of a stunning area in general.
